Forum leadership update – 16.08.2023

Our chair, Dr Yasmin Finch, and our vice chair, Ed Goodman, reluctantly had to step down this summer. Ed has family illness that he is needing to focus on and Yasmin’s work situation is changing with her taking on more hours.

✅ We’re delighted to announce however that St Ivo Parents Forum has a new chair and vice chair who are taking up the reins and will be looking after the Forum going forward.

✴Taking the post of chair is Dr Michelle Canning. She is originally from Northern Ireland but has lived in St Ives with her husband for over 20 years. Michelle started her career as a research chemist and has worked in Scientific publishing since 2001. She has three children with her husband; two are currently at St Ivo while the eldest has recently finished sixth form at the school.

✴ Our new vice chair is Deborah McNeill. Deb has lived in St Ives since 2001 and is married with three teenage sons. She has been a St Ivo parent since 2015 and has one son still at St Ivo.

She works in the public sector, gathering and analysing user feedback to identify potential areas for improvement.

✴ Both Michelle and Deb have been involved in the Forum from the beginning and are passionate about helping St Ivo flourish, improve and be a school that parents can be extremely proud of.

🌟 Ed and Yasmin would like to say a huge thank you to all who have been involved in the Forum and made the task of establishing the Forum and gathering this amazing parent body much easier. It’s been a privilege for us both to play a small part in helping parents have a voice at St Ivo and we’ve already seen so much progress because of everyone working together for positive change.

🌟 We wish Michelle and Deb all the best for the next steps the Forum takes and we’ll continue to support them as members of the Steering Group.

🌟 Also, the Forum would like to say a huge thank you to Ed and Yasmin for all their hard work and everything they’ve made possible.
